The History of Quest Productions

QUEST ADVENTURE GAMING (now QUEST PRODUCTIONS, LLC.) was founded in March of 2018 with the goal of providing immersive, memorable live-action games and events for our clients. By combining quality storytelling with remarkable sets and props, Quest has sought to create lasting gaming experiences that push the boundaries of player experience.

Our company began with a series of escape rooms, all located within beautiful Watkins Glen, NY. From our storefront, we were pleased to present such titles as Wayward VoyageSweet NightmaresWayward Rescue, and Usurp the King, all with unique themes and puzzles. Each set was carefully crafted to evoke the feeling of intense immersion from which to tell a rich story of mystery. The set of both Wayward adventures was our beloved Wayward Storm, which doubled as a sophisticated starship simulator. It would also prove to be the testing site for many concepts that would later materialize as our Outbound Hope Mission. Being located in a small but heavily-visited tourist town, Quest quickly became a local favorite and earned accolades from players and publications throughout both the local area and beyond. In October of 2018, Quest partnered with the local Chamber of Commerce to produce our first Murder Mystery event: Murder at the Third Street Speakeasy. We began partnering with local businesses to create similar experiences thereafter.

But Quest’s vision was far grander and in November of 2019, we launched our first major national event: The Outbound Hope Mission. Held aboard the decommissioned USS Edson in Bay City, Michigan, Outbound Hope asked players to assume roles as the crew of the famed starship, The Ascendant Dawn. The Edson — serving as the set of the Dawn — was rigged and dressed to give players the experience of being aboard a space-bound starship for a full-weekend event. Despite a host of production challenges, the event finished with great success, with fans eager for more. By December, ticket sales for the event’s second season were opened, nearly selling out within the first two weeks of registration.

Like any small business, Quest was not immune to the events of 2020 and 2021. When COVID-19 struck, our storefront was hard-hit. By April, the decision was made to close our escape rooms, simulators, and overall physical site. Instead, we would concentrate exclusively on our live events once the world returned to normal. Our November 2020 encore of Outbound Hope was rescheduled, and additional 2020 and 2021 projects were suspended.

While Quest continues to monitor the current pandemic with concern, we still see reason for excitement. As the pandemic resolves, Quest is prepared to launch a series of new events in a variety of compelling themes. Coordination began with members of the international organization Ludosport for our upcoming Starfall Academy, and elaborate plans began for The Great Meadow Rebellion. Despite the challenges of the present time, Quest is hopeful and enthusiastic about the many adventures to come.

As the motto of Outbound Hope says, Per Aspera Ad Astra” (Out of Hardship to the Stars).

As conditions improve, we look forward to continue to serve our clients…

…Because we all need a little more adventure.
